Our instructors aren’t just teachers, they are DJs and producers themselves. Countless events, radio shows, streams, and numerous music releases feature in their track records.
Passing this knowledge on to the next generations is our passion. On top of that, some of our instructors were trained at one of the largest music school chains in Germany, so they can not only make music but are also qualified to teach it.
Marc aka Selec bought his first turntables back in 1995. Hundreds of club gigs, festival appearances, like “Ruhr in Love”, “Open Source”, and “Juicy Beats”, and countless Twitch streams later, he is still active. He has been a band DJ, took part in DJ battles, worked as promoter, hosted his own FM radio show for 20 years, and has been producing various genres.
Since 2006, he has helped music lovers as an instructor at DJ schools to pass on knowledge and experience. He has taught several hundred students and shows you all the tricks, both as a DJ and as a producer.

Mats began his DJ career in 2010 as a student at BEAT ACADEMY. He learned the basics of DJing at the age of 15 and started playing in clubs in Dortmund and the surrounding area at 18. Initially influenced by EDM, he has developed into a versatile open-format DJ over the years.
In 2018, Mats took on a residency at the event series “Eurodance” and became its main DJ. After numerous club appearances, he landed a permanent residency at Weinkeller Dortmund, where he has been playing weekly since 2021. As a DJ coach, he first taught crash courses for the City of Dortmund, and he has been an instructor at BEAT ACADEMY since 2024!
Rushan aka byrush began his music career around 2014 and initially experimented with different sounds. Over the years, he tried his hand at various musical genres and released two songs on the Dortmund-based label Palmlands Records in 2022/23.
Since then, he has continued to move between diverse, preferably electronic genres, and since 2023 he can also be found DJing in numerous clubs in the Dortmund area. Since 2026, Rushan has been part of BEAT ACADEMY, introducing anyone interested into learning to the colorful world of music production and sound design.
René aka Kärr knew early on where he was headed: onto the stage! Through one of his best friends, René discovered Reggae and Dancehall in 2009 and started out as a selector at Dortmund’s “Blockbuster Soundsystem”. Alongside this, he teaches in workshops, for example with AWO (a German welfare organization), to this day.
Fast forward! Over 17 years of residencies in various genres are on his résumé, with appearances at demos, festivals, and club gigs, both nationally and internationally. His joy in passing on what he has learned to music lovers has never faded, nor has his commitment to nurturing talent to clubs, parties, and festivals.
